Honorary pallbearers Northport Police Dept, E.O.C, Dr Jared Ellis, and Wilmington High School class of 1988.

Since 1995, Northport dispatcher Shala has provided support to the people of Northport, monitoring routes and sending emergency services out to those in need.

Shala grew up in Wilmington, Illinois, a small town south of Chicago, where she took an interest in law enforcement due to her mother's 19-year relationship with a state trooper. In late 1994, Shala and her family moved to Northport, where she became a dispatcher for the city in March 1995.

Throughout her 26 years career she has helped countless citizens and been a voice officers could always count on. After 26 years Shala retired and said “you aren’t rid of me just yet” and committed to work part time after her retirement up until she passed away. Being a dispatcher was truly her life!

Shala cherished her nephew Adam and loved him as her own. She looked after him his whole life. Shala had a bond with Adam and his family including Adam’s mother-in-law and father-in-law Katie and Lary. Shala shared her passion for horror movies with her BFF Ashtyn. She was especially close to Ashley and her precious Ava Kate.

She loved visiting her Ohio family and her road trips with her aunts and cousin Ladelle and of course the shenanigans with her uncle Ed and her cousins.

Shala will forever be loved and missed.

Rest easy 97 10-42.
