Sara Alice McCollum was born in Fayette, AL on October 17, 1955, to Lester (Sonny) Walker, Sr. and Iteria Walker.

Sara was educated in the Fayette County school system and graduated from Fayette County High School with the class of 1974. She has lived in Fayette all her life.

She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church, Fayette where she was a lifelong member. Her early career started at the Sterilon Plant in Fayette, and she later worked at Fayette Walmart for 37 years until her health failed. While working at Walmart, Sara took pride in her work, serving customers with a smile and good conversation.

Sara was a woman of grace, strength and quiet elegance whose presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. She was devoted to her family and friends, and she adored all her nieces and nephews who gave her great joy each time they paid her a visit.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edison and Elvia Lou McCollum, her mother, Iteria Walker, and three brothers: Jeffery D. Walker, Gary Stowe, and Jerome Craig.

Sara leaves to cherish her precious memories, her father, Lester (Sonny) Walker, Sr.; a sister, Linda Walker; four brothers: Lester Walker, Jr. (Sammie), Wayne Stowe (Portia) and Albert Ray Walker all of Fayette, AL, and Don Walker of Tuscaloosa, AL. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Though she is no longer with us, her beautiful spirit and legacy of love will remain in our hearts.
