Ruby Snipes, age 92 of Tuscaloosa, passed away Sunday in her home, August 14, 2022. There will be a private graveside service at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Fields officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Nettie Stephens; husband, Hubert L. Snipes; sister, Onita Patrick; brother-in-law, James R Patrick; brother-in-law, Robert Hale and grandson, Christopher Chase Patton. Ms. Snipes is survived by her daughters, Sherry S. Patton (Chris) of Eutaw and Patsy S. Adams (Terry Lynn) of Tuscaloosa; sister, Myrtis S. Hale of Northport; grandchildren, Taylor P. Frye (Bill) of Bozeman, MT, Joshua L. Adams (Lauren) of Marietta, GA and Hunter Brooks Adams (Caitlyn) of Tuscaloosa; and great-grandchildren, Lucy A. Patton, William P. Frye, James C. Frye and Caroline C. Adams. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was born in Northport, AL in 1930 to Luther and Nettie Stephens. In 1946 she married Hubert Snipes was blessed with two daughters, Sherry and Patsy, four grandchildren, Chase, Taylor, Josh and Brooks, and four great grandchildren, Lucy, William, James, and Caroline. Ruby was a devoted Christian and a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving her community through the United Methodist Women’s Group delivering for Meals on Wheels and preparing dinners alongside her fellow Women’s Group members in the church kitchen for the Northport Lions Club meetings. She was a member of the McCollum Sunday School Class and loved sharing her home for church Young at Heart bingo nights and fish frys. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, the lady of the Snipes household was called “GRAN”. Gran’s house was the best spot for family birthday parties, Easter egg hunts, Sunday fried chicken, and a piece of her famous red velvet cake. A big back yard with a tree house always welcomed the grand kids for fun and games. A lot of love and memories were shared at Gran’s House. Pallbearers are Bobby Hale, Terry Adams, Chris Patton, Josh Adams, Brooks Adams, Bill Frye and Scott Trimm. Honorary Pallbearers are the Robert Hale Family, the Betty Rushing Family, the Annie Laurie Bailey Family, the Grover Snyder Family, the Cammie McKenstry Family, the M L Adams Family, Doug and Martha Dyer, Peggy Adams, Nurses and Staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Lake Ridge Neighbors, Loving Caregivers: Lucille Brown, Dorothy Ryans, Ruby Harbin, Teresa Ragsdale, Sherika Gage and Lynn Davis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
