Reuben Frank Stewart Jr.

Reuben Frank Stewart Jr., a child of God, age 88 of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Fayette, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2025. A celebration of life for Mr. Stewart will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Homewood Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama, at 2:00 p.m. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Reuben was a beloved husband to Joy, father to sons Ben and Mike, father-in-law to Missy and Debbie, grandfather to Andrew and Amy, Carroll Ann and Ian, Katherine and Chase, Kelli and Avery, great grandfather to Marissa, Samantha, Jack, Parker, Michael, Caroline, Hudson, and Wilson.

Reuben was born in Fayette, Alabama on October 31, 1936, to Frank and Grace Stewart, and grew up on his grandfather’s farm in the community of Covin. He was an outstanding athlete in high school, was captain of the football team, and graduated with the class of 1955. In the fall of that year, he enrolled in David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, to study accounting. It was at Lipscomb that he met Joy Miller, and they began a love affair that lasted 67 years.

In 1960 after graduating from the University of Alabama, Reuben was employed by Vulcan Materials Company where he served in finance for 38 years. That same year, Reuben and Joy placed membership at the Homewood Church of Christ. Reuben served the congregation in many ways as a deacon, treasurer, teacher, small group leader, and as a Shepard. He loved the Lord, the Lord’s church, and his family.
