Ralph McDonald

Ralph McDonald, age 88 of Winfield AL, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Woodland Village Nursing Home. Graveside Service will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, at 10:00 a.m. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Ralph is preceded in death by his wife; Vergie McDonald, father; Claude McDonald, mother; Autie Hamilton, daughter-in-law; Susan McDonald, and nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his sons; Stan McDonald of New Hope AL, Doyle McDonald of Winfield AL, and Chris (Tracey) McDonald of Scottsboro AL, grandchildren, Erica (Austin) York, and Niki (Thomas) Butler, and great-grandchildren; Lawson Butler, Jack York, and Judd York.

Ralph attended Hubbertville High School in Hubbertville, Al. He earned his Bachelor’s as well as his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Ralph worked as a structural engineer residing mainly within the nuclear power industry. He was well versed in Spanish, loved travelling, and enjoyed the peaceful tunes of Bluegrass when scheduling permitted. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
