In his youth he played football, baseball, and wrestled for Hilltop High School. His passion for sport was not confined to his younger years. He gave back to his community in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as an assistant coach of Holy Spirit Catholic High School. His passion for sports was evident to the end. So entrenched into the fabric of the team that they carry on his motto in their hearts and on their sleeves. On the Line Gentleman.
Meeting his loving wife Duschka at the age of 12. Lifelong friends turned into lifelong love. Creating a bond that was tightly wound in faithful matrimony for 16 years. He is survived by 3 children. Christian. Rafael. Duschka. All of whom he had unyielding love for.
Rafael served his country faithfully as an Infantryman in the United States Army. Carrying the name of a fallen Marine on his wrist with pride and honor. His dedication to his country was for all to see. Honorably discharged as a Specialist last serving in the 1st Combined Arms. This We’ll Defend.
A man who was known to be fierce was also a gentle soul. The duality of Rafael spoke to his heart. All his friends were his family and to all those that he called family, he opened his house to. Read these words and remember him fondly. Remember him dearly. Remember him with love. His presence has permeated through all of us and lies with us. Always.
