Melba Moore Sims

Melba Moore Sims, age 78 of Fayette AL, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at DCH of Fayette. Services for Ms. Sims will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Bro. Adam Smith and Bro. Darren Pollard will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents; Marion and Belvia Kimbrell Moore, brothers; Jesse Moore, Elvin Moore, and David Moore, and sisters; Lois Hamilton, Blonnie Mae Moore, and Virginia Bowles.

She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Melba Moore Sims was born and raised in Fayette AL. She married Billy Don Sims in 1972. She was a member at Mt. Home Baptist Church. Melba was known for her special love for children where she devoted her life to teaching. She taught at Tuscaloosa County Schools, Pickens County Schools, Autauga County Schools, and Talladega School for the blind. Melba will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Christian Miller, Ron Renfroe, Jason Wright, Nathan Wright, Kade Wright, and Chad Nichols.
