Mary Ruth Bearden

Mary Ruth (Benton) Bearden, 74, passed away on July 16, 2017 in her home in Northport, Alabama. Services will be held at Caines Ridge Baptist Church (Hwy 159) in Fayette on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Brother Tim Tindle and Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Flowers may be sent to Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home in Fayette. Survivors include daughter, Dana Carpenter (Richard); beloved grandchildren, Chas Fleenor (Shaila) and Danielle Poppie (Mike); great-grandsons, Kanyon and Mason Fleenor; and sister-in-law, Grace Benton. She was preceded in death by parents Mary and Sam Benton of Fayette and siblings James and John Thomas Benton and Margaret Bobo, as well as her late husband JT Bearden. Ruth spent most of her life in Tuscaloosa and Northport. She worked 30 years at Partlow State School and loved her “kids” there. She enjoyed working in her yard and shopping during her retirement. Her favorite place was the Smoky Mountains. Vibrant and feisty Ruth insisted on doing things her own way. Loyal to a fault Ruth never gave up on anyone once they became friends or family and had an endless capacity for forgiveness.
