Linda Ann Wilson, age 74, of Fayette, Alabama, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Tuscaloosa DCH Regional Medical Center. Services for Ms. Wilson will be Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. She will lie in state Friday, May 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday she will lie in state one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Fayette Memorial Gardens. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
Linda Ann Wilson was born on September 10, 1951, in Kennedy, AL, the only daughter of Nealie Wilson Dunkley. Linda was educated in the Fayette County school system and graduated from West Highland High School. Her early career started at Sterilon plant in Fayette, AL. Later she was a long-term care employee of Amedisys Home Health Care in Fayette until her retirement. She served faithfully as a member of St. James C.M.E. Church, Fayette, AL, and later attended McConnell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Fayette. More than anything Linda was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping and family gatherings. She cherished her relationships and was a source of strength and unwavering support to those who needed her. She was kind, loving, generous, non-judgmental, and caring. Her love for her devoted son Brian and her grandson, whom she affectionately called “BB”, knew no bounds. “BB” was the “apple of her eye”!
She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Nealie Wilson (Herbert) Dunkley; her father, Perry Wilson; brothers: Raymond Fowler, Melvin Weir, and Benjamin Poole; and her doting grandparents, Ulysses and Carrie Wilson.
Linda is survived by her son, Brian Wilson (Sonya) and her grandson, Brian Wilson II, of Huntsville, AL; siblings: Perry Wilson and Larry Wilson, both of Birmingham, AL, Maxine Wilson of Warner Robins, GA, Judia Wilson (Reginal Peagues) of Johns Creek, GA, Jean Wilson-Sykes of Jackson, TN, Brenda Wilson of Charlotte, NC, Douglas Wilson (Tonya) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Donnie Poole (Elese) of Kennedy, AL, Jason Poole (Janearle) of Mobile, AL, Greg Poole of Kennedy, AL, Rebecca Poole-Carter (Wardell) of Tuscaloosa, AL, James Poole (Patricia) of Fayette, AL, Tim Barnes (Terica) of Wilmington, DE and Cecelia Weir of Memphis, TN, and a host cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories she left behind. Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
