Leona Fitch Burns, 89 of Ralph, passed away on April 12th 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday April 16th at Shiloh Baptist Church, Ralph AL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM immediately following visitation at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Arsenault and Gary McCracken, officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Norwood Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home.

Leona was born in the Pickens County community of Pine Grove to Petty Fitch and Loine Taylor Fitch on November 27th, 1934. She graduated from Carrolton High School in 1953 and married Dan Burns on November 27th 1963 in Tuscaloosa. They made their home in Ralph, where they raised their family and enjoyed life together for almost 61 years. She was a devoted, faithful, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Leona was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, an award-winning seamstress, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers, and collecting antiques. Her favorite place was the rebuilt log cabin behind their house where she spent many hours quilting and enjoying time with family and friends.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents; Shepherd Petty Fitch and Loine Taylor Fitch, brother; George Fitch, and sister Ruby Latham.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Burns of Ralph, AL; son, Ken Burns (Denise) of Ralph,AL; son Dan Burns Jr. (Karen) of Hoover, AL; brother, Dwight Fitch (Pat) of Sulligent, AL; brother, Mitchell Fitch (Missy) of Ethelsville, AL; sister, Beatrice Brown of Ethelsville, AL; grandchildren, Leigh Broemlage (Marcel) of Northport, AL, Erin McCoy (Brad) of Northport, AL, and Noah Burns of Hoover, AL. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren; Kayla Norlin (Justin), Ana Maria Broemlage, Ethan McCoy, great-great-grandson; Shepherd Norlin, and host of Nieces and Nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Russ Brown, Terry Burns, Grady Wilson, Silas Wilson, Scott Renn, and Brett Shewmake.
