IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laura McMullen
Farmer
October 19, 1976 – January 28, 2026
Laura McMullen Farmer, 49, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Hospital surrounded by her family and closest friends.
There will be a memorial service on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service, with Rev. Robin Wilson and Stephen Stroud officiating.
Laura was born on October 19, 1976 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She graduated from Central High School in 1995 and attended the University of Alabama (UA) that fall. She met her most treasured friends through her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. She graduated from UA with a Bachelor's in Public Relations in the spring of 1999. She married the love of her life, Brandon Farmer, on December 1, 2001. They have two children, Mary Madison (22) and Olivia (21), whom she loved and adored.
Laura was a preschool teacher at First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa's (FUMCT) "Kiddie Kollege" for nearly 14 years. She loved every child that came through her class. She was joyous, patient, and kind - all qualities that made her a perfect teacher, mother, daughter, wife, and friend.
Laura loved spending quality time with her friends and family. Whether it be a trip to Disney World, a weekend in New Orleans, a quick stay in Orange Beach, a destination for an Alabama football game, or just a Friday night with her neighbors, nurturing meaningful relationships with her friends and family was something she greatly valued. She especially enjoyed weekly dinner dates with her husband, Brandon, at their handful of regular spots - River, Chuck's Fish, and Evangeline's were their favorites.
Laura was fiercely loyal. She loved her people, and her people loved her. Her infectious laugh, kind heart, and admirable strength will be missed the most.
Laura is survived by her husband of 24 years, Brandon Farmer; daughters, Mary Madison and Olivia Farmer; mother, Deloris McMullen; brother, Chason (Kim) McMullen; niece, Sara Chase McMullen; nephew, Mason McMullen; uncle, Doster McMullen; cousins, Amy McMullen and Peyton Franco (Joey); father and mother-in-law, Dr. Tom Farmer (Brenda); and sister-in-law, Tory Farmer. She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy McMullen; and grandparents, Roy Madison (Maudine), Tom McMullen, and Sara McMullen Sharpe.
