Larry Epps

October 9, 1943 — July 29, 2023

Larry Clarke Epps, age 79 of Fayette, passed away at Fayette Long Term Care on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Services for Mr. Epps will be Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Terrell officiating. Service will include full Military Honors. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

     Larry Clarke Epps was born October 9, 1943 to Eddie Epps and Creola Allen in Belzoni, MS. He departed this life on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Fayette Long Term Care Nursing Home. 

 

     He accepted Christ as his Personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Berry, AL.

 

     He joined the Army October 1961 to December 1982. He fought in Vietnam War. Unfortunately, his Army career was cut short with an honorary medical discharge. He was married to Elease Finch in Berry, AL.

 

     Larry, affectionally known as “Big Daddy Larry” was always finding ways to make people smile and laugh by telling jokes and laughing with the crowd. He loved reading books, listening to music, and doing crossword puzzles. He had a heart of gold, always trying to help anyone he could, especially his family. And he visited his family all the time until his health no longer allowed him to. He drove his car until the age of 79, Nascar driver. 

 

     Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Eppsand Creola Allen. 

 

    He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Elease Epps “Boobie”; of Fayette, AL; one daughter, Tamonica Brown “Shea” of Berry, AL; one son, Floyzell Gay (Flo), retired Navy of  Sinton, TX; three grandchildren: Deion Kiley, Tyelan Chatman (Navy), Ashton Gay (Fireman), Miah Elease Gay; two great grandchildren: Tyson Chatmon “LuvBug”, Willow Elease Gay “Juicy Jaws”; three sisters-in-law: Chlora Bradley and Sharon Finch both of Berry, AL, Carrie Donaldson of Memphis, TN; two brothers-in-law: Donnie Finch of Berry, AL and Ronnie Finch of Lorado, TX; two nieces: NaTasha Finch and Marie Finch; six nephews: Allen Finch, Cornelius Clay, Eric Finch (Morgan), Maurice Nixon, Jessie Finch (Alyssa), and Ronnie Finch, Jr. (Kristen); a close person friend, Larry Brown Henry of Fayette, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
