Jimmy Delmer Rogers, age 81, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away February 4, 2019 at Hospice of West Alabama after a brief battle with melanoma. A Memorial Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Ala. with Dr. Tim Lovett and Joseph Robinson officiating and Norwood-Wyatt Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa. The family will also receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Wade Funeral Home, Collins Miss. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet D. Rogers; brother, Gale Albert Rogers; mother, Reba Pickering Rogers; father, Delmer Rogers. Survivors include his wife, Jewel Schimfessel Peden Rogers of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughters, Denise Rogers Williams (Mark) of Louisville, Ky. and Donna Rogers Upton (Mike), Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Alana Donald (Rob) of Louisville, Ky.; Brian Wesley Price of Louisville, Ky.; Addison Jane and Amelia Anne Upton, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Atticus Donald of Louisville, Ky.; stepsons, Jeff Peden (Julie) and Carl Peden (Leigh Ann), Meridian, Miss.; step-grandchildren, Nathan Peden (Megan) of Greenwood, Miss., Dylan Peden (Katie) and Eli Peden of Meridian, Miss.; and step-great-grandchild, Lane Peden of Greenwood, Miss. He was born in Hot Coffee, Mississippi on May 4, 1937 to Delmer and Reba Rogers. He graduated from Salem High School in Collins, Miss., Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Miss. and Mississippi State University, Starkville, Miss. He was a member of the National Guard and worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) for over 30 years. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.
