Hurshel Fay Ellison

Hurshel "Hurhsey" Fay Ellison, age 65 of Bankston, AL, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her residence. Visitation for Ms. Ellison will be Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. There will be a family Graveside Service Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery, at 10:30 a.m. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Hurshel is preceded in death by her fathers; Hurshel E. Sanford and William H. “Buck” Carden.

She will be missed by her mother, Mary Carden, and her brother, Keith Carden.

Hurshel was a devoted mother to her children, Charity Ellison Odom (Nick Odom) and Matthew Ellison (Ali Ellison). She was an adored MamMaw to Dixie Grace Odom, Carrie Belle Odom, Melanie Hope Odom, Allyna Ellison, Matteo Ellison, Memphis Odom, and MaryAlice Odom. She was a loving Aunt to Logan Johnston, Bubba Carden, and Kountry Carden. 

Hurshel's warm heart, dedication to her family, and quiet strength touched many lives, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Hurshel dedicated the last 18 years of her life as a line cook at Jack's, where her warm personality was well known. Beyond her work, Hurshel's greatest joy and passion in life was undoubtedly her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, finding immense happiness in their laughter and company. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
