Harold Berry

August 1, 1929 — February 13, 2022

A much loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, George Harold Berry, 92, of Fayette, Alabama passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. In keeping with his wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral service. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann Berry and his children Beth Kelley (Barry) of Augusta, GA, Hal Berry of Bermuda, and Lunda Carroll Schwartz (Michael) of Fayette. Brother Horace Berry (Carolyn), Grandchildren Alexa Schwartz (Victor), Chase Kelley, Sherman Schwartz, Bryce Kelley, Reed Schwartz, Lee Berry and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James Daniel Berry. He was born on August 1, 1929, to the late Dr. H. E. and Velma Berry. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School and the University of Alabama where he earned a BA degree in History and completed R.O.T.C. Training. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and honorably served in the Korean War. After the Army, he started Berry Construction Company in Atlanta and continued this business after returning home to Fayette. He loved history, golf, hiking, bridge and oysters on the half shell. He also loved the Crimson Tide! The family wishes to give special thanks to Nikki Snider, Dr. Gregory Stidham, Dr. Monica Bui, Dr. Sakina Kamal, Druid City Hospital, Fayette Fire Department, Northstar Ambulance, Air Evac Air Ambulance, VA Hospital - Tuscaloosa and all of their staff and nurses.
