Glenn Rice Walker was born on March 13, 1950, in Tuscaloosa. Alabama where he was raised by his parents, Glenn and Miriam Walker, in the Romulus community alongside his brothers, Benji and Harold. Growing up in a close-knit farming community helped shape the hardworking and dependable man he would become.

He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1968, where he was active in track and football, demonstrating determination, discipline, and teamwork.

After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps completing a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Marine Corps, Glenn developed a strong appreciation for firearms and marksmanship. Through his dedication, leadership, and discipline, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was awarded numerous badges and honors of merit. His skill and commitment also earned him the distinguished Expert Marksmanship Award, an achievement that reflected the precision, determination, and pride he carried throughout his life.

Following his return home, he married Patsy Poole, and together they built a loving family. They were blessed with two daughters, Brandy and Kayce Walker. As a husband, father, and provider, he devoted himself to creating a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

He later began a long and respected career with BFGoodrich where he worked in the machine shop for 31 years before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he earned the respect of his coworkers throughout his decades of service.

Outside of work, farming was not just a livelihood but a lifelong passion. He farmed for the majority of his life and took great pride in the land, livestock, and values that came with rural living. He raised and showed American Quarter Horses, a passion that brought him much joy and allowed him to form lasting friendships within the agricultural and horse-show communities. He was also a proud member of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association for many years where he remained connected to the farming and cattle industry he loved so deeply.

Faith played a central role throughout Glenn’s life. He attended New Hope Baptist Church beginning at the age of six and became a member of the church at 12 years old. He deeply loved his church family and enjoyed playing guitar during church services, sharing his love of music and worship with those around him.

Glenn never met a stranger and genuinely enjoyed speaking with everyone he encountered. He especially loved learning from others, listening to their stories, sharing conversations, and building friendships wherever he went. His warm personality, kindness, and ability to connect with people made him loved by many and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was known by family and friends as someone who could always be counted on — a man of quiet strength, steady character, and unwavering loyalty. Whether working long hours, tending to the farm, caring for animals, supporting his church, or helping those he loved, he approached every responsibility with humility and pride. He valued honesty, hard work, faith, and the importance of helping others, leaving an example that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

His life was defined by dedication — to his country, his family, his work, his faith, and his community. Through his service, perseverance, love of farming, devotion to family, and steadfast faith, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, integrity, and pride that will be remembered for generations.
