Gilbert Esquivel, age 78 of Coker passed away Friday, January 28, 2022. Services will be Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Henry Esquivel; parents, Gilbert and Eva Esquivel; and great-grandchild, Willow Cole. He is survived by his daughters, Natalie Ann Atkins (David), Evette Alyce Cleland (Chris), Suzette Salyce Glaze McCalla (Robert) and Gretchen Rene Landry (James); sisters, Marie Dawn Albrecht, Rebecca Ann Esquivel and Eva Austin Sconyers; brothers, Joseph Emmanuel Esquivel and Rudolph Esquivel Pierre; and grandchildren and their children, Christine and Nicholas Cole with daughter, LillyAnne, Arthur, Tim Johnston, Elizabeth and Ronald Roy with son, Preston, Paul Rivera and children, Atticus, Charlette and Raychel, Christopher and Sonya with son, Holden, Timothy and Brooke Atkins with son, Tobias, Alicia and Derek Lozada with daughter, Sadie, Thomas and Emerson, Katherine Atkins, Rachel Atkins, Anastasia Atkins, Anthony and Angelle Landry with children, Caileigh, Cruze and Claire, James and Brittany Landry with children, Jayden and Scarlett, and Audrey and Mark Poirrier. Mr. Esquivel was a loving husband who loved his Catholic faith and supported his community whenever he could. He was a carpenter and auto mechanic that loved teaching and sharing his knowledge. He loved to travel so that he could admire unique architectures and sample different foods. Pallbearers are Audrey Poirrier, Rachel Atkins, Bruce Holden, Paul Rivera, Elizabeth Holden, Christine Cole and Nicholas Cole. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Knights of Columbus.
