George Simpson Jr. "Little George"

July 5, 1938 — April 13, 2024

Bankston

George Thomas Simpson Jr. “Little George”, age 85 of Bankston AL, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at DCH of Tuscaloosa. There will be a graveside service for Mr. Simpson Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m. Bro. Randy Deavours will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service. 

Mr. Simpson is preceded in death by his parents; Evacile Simpson, and George T. Simpson Sr. 

Little George is survived by his wife; Martha Simpson, daughters; Janet (Todd) Costello, and Georgia Simpson Watts, son; Scott (Pamela) Burkhalter, sister; Joan Tyner, brother; William B. Simpson, grandchild; Taylor Burkhalter, and step-grandchildren; Jonathan Costello, and Katelyn Costello. 

Little George was born in Bankston AL, and graduated from Berry High School. He moved to Chicago to work before joining the Army. After serving in the Army at Fort Dix, he returned to Bankston where he worked for Arvin Automotive over 35 years. During this time he married Martha and they had two daughters. 

Little George was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and told countless stories of his time spent with his friends. He never met a stranger. He loved music, especially George Jones, playing guitar and he was a gifted singer. Being on the water made him happy and he cherished the time spent with family and friends on Lake Tuscaloosa. Life was an adventure with Little George in it and he lived it to his fullest. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
