Freda Ward, age 66, of Northport, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at DCH of Tuscaloosa. The family will have a private service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Freda is preceded in death by her father; Fred Thompson, mother; Katherine Thompson, brother; Jack Thompson, sister; Susan Thompson.

She is survived by her husband; Tilman Ward, daughters; Jennifer Doughtry (Eric), Rachel Sawyer (Cayson), and Shelby Taylor (Andrew), grandchildren; Carissa Bell, Jena Bell, DJ Shires, Tre Bell, and Brendan Taylor, brothers; Fred Thompson Jr. (Debbie), Davy Thompson (Phyllis), and Tommy Thompson (Angela), sisters; Helen Caruso (Nien) and Peggy Litton (Kevin). She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

She was born March 24th, 1960 to Fred and Katherine Thompson in Logan W.V. Freda enjoyed crocheting, cheering for her West Virginia Mountaineers, and telling everyone how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. She was known to be hardworking, selfless, and accepting of anyone she crossed paths with. She married Tilman Ward in 1982, and together they shared 43 wonderful years. She will be dearly missed by her family as well as friends.
