Elizabeth Marshall McDonald (“Beth”), age 72 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, went to Heaven on September 27th, 2025. There will be an Inurnment Service Tuesday, October 07, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Columbarium, at 2:00 p.m. Father Epah Mugagga will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
She was a fearless protector to her husband Johnny and her sons John (Dana) and Shane (Heather).
Beth was predeceased by her parents Rip and Gladys Marshall, her two brothers Jimmy and Tommy, and her grandchild Joshua.
She was “Nana” to all her grandkids - Sarah (Chapman) Drake (April), Jack, Analiese, Reagan, Evie, and her one great grandchild Gray. She leaves a legacy of love to us all.
Born in Monroeville, Alabama on January 20th, 1953, she and Johnny packed up the blue Pontiac Firebird and moved to Northington Apartments on Fifteenth Street in the early 1970’s. They would be the first of many in their families to attend college at the University of Alabama (“Roll Tide”). Tuscaloosa became their home.
Beth taught hearing impaired children as well as other children with learning disabilities in the Tuscaloosa County Schools for many years at Holt and Brookwood High Schools.
After retirement, Nana spent a lot of time at her second home at Miller’s Ferry roasting s’mores on the campfire and cooking for the grandkids. Recently Nana’s vision began to falter and she could not see. But on September 27th her sight was restored and she can see very clearly now in Heaven.
Ephesians 4:32 sums up Nana in a nutshell - “ Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
