Della Perkins

Della E. Perkins, age 93, of Crossville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at UAB West. There will be a Graveside Service Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m. Elder James Howard will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Della is preceded in death by her Husband; Gorman Perkins, parents; Harvey and Trudie Gartman, brothers and sisters; Bertie Riley, Verra Gipin, Walton Gartman, Modell Roberts, Lettie Price, Herschel (Tarp) Gartman, Dessie Perkins, Denna Stewart, Demus (Pete) Gartman, and Helen Gartman, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter; Tina (Keith) Perkins, son; Scott (Lisa) Perkins, sister; Dorothy Lawrence, grandchildren; Lauren Ross, Julia Fisher, and Nick Perkins, and great-grandchildren; Maisie Ross, Miles Ross, and soon to be Camden Fisher.

Della was born to Harvey and Trudie Gartman in Fayette Alabama on November 2, 1931. She was one of twelve children who learned to pick cotton at a young age and did so until she eloped on the afternoon of May 10, 1952 when she married Gorman Perkins. They lived in the Crossville Community most of their lives. She was the proud mother of two children (Scott and Tina), three grandchildren (Lauren, Julia and Nick), and three great grandchildren (Maisie, Miles and soon to be Camden). She enjoyed watering her flowers, watching the Bold and Beautiful and sitting on the front porch. She was an avid Alabama fan that loved watching anything they play on TV. She also enjoyed selling Avon for over sixty years and picking blueberries with her sister, Dorothy Lawrence. She was a simple person who didn't look her age and was never hard to please. She was a member of and attended Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Crossville.

Pallbearers will be Nick Perkins, Zach Ross, Austin Fisher, Joe Edgeworth, Tim Hudson, and Keith Jolliffe.
