Charlotte Evelyn Muse Howell

February 11, 1925 — October 23, 2017

Charlotte Evelyn Muse Howell, age 92 of Fayette passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at home. Services will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel with Rev. Randy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Golden Howell; parents, DeWitt Fowler Muse and Willa (Richardson) Muse; brother, John Muse; sisters, Lougene Tidwell and Ermine Black; nieces, Jada Tidwell and Charlotte Muse. Charlotte is survived by her nieces, Shirley Hall, Susan (James) Newton, Sheila Black and Carla (Eric) Vissers; nephews: John (Carol) Muse, DeWitt (Eileen) Black and Drew Muse; eleven great nieces and nephews; and eight great great nieces and nephews Following graduation from Fayette County High School Charlotte moved to Birmingham to work. Her most significant work was with Unocal Oil company having worked in the oil industry for almost 35 years. She was a devoted Christian, active at Green Acres Baptist Church in Birmingham and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Fayette. Charlotte loved her family and friends. She would often say her nieces and nephews were the children she never had. She enjoyed traveling, camping, playing board games and Mexican train, reading cook books and cooking. The family would like to express appreciation for the devoted ladies who cared for her Nona Koster, Deborah Patilla, Erma Patchen, Jo Aycock as well as the many other ladies who cared for her the last several years. Pallbearers are DeWitt Black, Steve Pickle, Monica Pickle, Phillips Elliott, Clyde Hall, Ray Davis Charlotte will be deeply missed by her friends, and family- especially by her nieces and nephews who loved her deeply. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pilgrim Rest Cemetery Fund c/o Phillips Elliott 414 10th Street SW Fayette, Alabama 35555.
