Barbara Byars, age 70, of Fayette, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at her residence. The Family will have a private graveside service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.
Mrs. Byars is preceded in death by her husband; Ricky Byars, parents; Willie James and Virginia Faye Markem, and grandsons; Kody Scott Meadows and Aiden Heath Byars.
She is survived by her daughter; Amy Boyce Meadows (James) of Fayette, AL, sons; Jason Boyce, Heath Byars (Kelsea), and Kyle Byars all of Fayette, AL, brother; Benjy (Kim) Markem of Fayette, AL, grandchildren; Brittney Boyce, Katelyn Meadows, Cari Meadows, Lilli Meadows, Hayden Byars of Fayette, AL, and great grandchildren Jason Ray Cook and Ryleigh Fields of Fayette, AL.
Mrs. Barbara Byars was born on March 15, 1956, to the late Wille James and Virginia Faye Markem of Fayette, Alabama. A lifelong resident of Fayette, Barbara was a proud graduate of Fayette County High School, attended First Free Will Baptist Church, and retired after many years of dedicated employment with Georgia-Pacific. Known for her generous heart and caring nature, she always placed the needs of others before her own and spent many years serving as a devoted caregiver to those she loved. Barbara was also a passionate sports fan and a loyal supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, unwavering dedication to family and friends, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and generosity. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
