Austin Dean McGreger, age 36, of Vardaman, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his residence. Visitation will be held at Vardaman First Baptist Church on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. -2:00 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Whitney Casey will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Austin is preceded in death by his nephew; Hunter McGreger, niece; Lakyn Burt, special aunt; Pat Ellis, grandparents; Gearldine and Odis McGreger, and grandfather; Truman Lancaster.

He is survived by his mother and father; Carolyn and Sam McGreger, children; Tara, Sam Michael, and Jackson McGreger, brothers; Sammy (Nicole) McGreger and Johnny Brown, nieces; Chloe (Michael) Hardin, Chloe Burt, Caitlyn (Layton) Morgan, grandmother; Faye Lancaster, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Austin Dean McGreger was born on September 27th, 1988, in Amory, Mississippi to Carolyn and Sam McGreger of Vardaman, Mississippi. Austin was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County who loved his family and the outdoors. Austin was a graduate Vardaman High School class of 2007, as well as Northwest Mississippi Community college in 2008. Austin was an avid outdoorsman whose most cherished moments were spent hunting with his children.

Pallbearers will be Colby Skinner, Jarred Hawks, Jimmy Lee Wheeler, Jeremy Criddle, Randy High, Gene Ruth II, Lance Baecher, Kyle Kendall, Andrew Landry, and Bailey Ray Bollinger.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Lovorn, Mikey Hardin, Chris McGreger, Preston McGreger, Bo McGreger, and Brian Ellis.

The family welcomes and appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to please be made to the Vardaman Athletics Booster Club.
