David Willis, Jr. age 89, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. Services will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel with Jeff Randolph officiating. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday. He was preceded in death by his parents, David S. and Mary Norris Willis; brothers, Lawrence, Alton, Arnold and Nolen Willis; and sisters, Florence Guthrie, Mattie Kimbrell and Wilma Mullinax. Survivors include his wife, Lucile Woods Willis; daughter, Bea W. Swartz (Steve) of Springville, AL; son, Gregory David Willis (Melanie) of Quinton, AL; grandchildren, Ted Swartz (Brittany), Ben Swartz (Whitney), Chance Willis (Cait) and Kelley Willis; and great-grandchildren, Beau and Case Willis. Mr. Willis was a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ and a past member of Hueytown Church of Christ. He worked at U.S. Steel in Fairfield and he also worked as a coalminer and a logger. He was a member of the Alabama Clown Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bird hunting, coon hunting and rabbit hunting. He also loved to play music and enjoyed gardening. Pallbearers will be Chance Willis, Ted Swartz, Ben Swartz, Steve Swartz, Alan Woods, and Shelley Woods. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Willis, Billy Willis, Wayne Willis, Joel Willis, Gary Kimbrell, Robert McCaleb, Paul May, Alan Jones, and Don Horne.
