Irene Handley

Irene Handley, age 82, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017. Services will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Berry Baptist Church with Bro. Rodney Ward officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Flatwood Cemetery. Mrs. Handley was preceded in death by her husband, Leatherd Handley; son, Sam Handley; parents, Virgil and Archivie Bailey; grandparents, Tom and Dora Mullinax and George and Rena Bailey; brothers, Aaron Bailey, George Bailey, Tommy Bailey, Bob Bailey, Joel Bailey and Buford Bailey. Irene was born on February 17, 1935 to the late Virgil and Archivie Bailey. She was the only sister to nine brothers. She was married to Leatherd Handley and had two sons, Jeff and Sam; one granddaughter, Juliet, and one grandson, Josh. She was an active member of Berry Baptist Church. She loved to cook and play games, she was active in her community. She is survived by her son Jeff (Jennifer) Handley; brothers, Major (Pat) Bailey, Milford (Sue Ann) Bailey and Bruce (Diane) Bailey; and grandchildren, Juliet (Daniel) Handley and Josh Anderson. Pallbearers are Josh Anderson, Tommy Bailey, Danny Bailey, Jimmy Bailey, Matthew Lollar and Daniel Thornton. Honorary pallbearers are her bus travel friends, her game friends, and friends and family of Berry Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Flatwood Church.
