Cecil Pendley

January 10, 1937 — March 17, 2017

Cecil R. Pendley of Fayette, formerly of Berry, AL passed away March 17, 2017 at Veterans Hospital in Tuscaloosa.  Services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Gary Hill, Brother Billy Jones and Brother Bobby Clark officiating and Norwood-Wyatt Chapel directing.  Interment will follow at El-Bethel Buncomb Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Endie Pendley. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn McDaniel-Martin Pendley, daughters, Ellen Pledger (Rick), of Tuscaloosa, Cherry Pendley (Scott Adcox) of Tuscaloosa, Cindy Nichols (Cliff Ingram) of Fayette, Tammy Jones (Billy), of Florida, and son, Tim Martin (Lisa); twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Pendley; sister, Hazel Prisock; as well as many cousin, nieces and nephews. Cecil proudly served in the US Navy for nine years and received a military discharge.  After returning to Alabama, he worked for the Alabama Highway Patrol retiring in 1973.   Cecil was an active member of Shepherd Baptist Church in Newtonville where he will be greatly missed.  He was always at the center of anything fun and was affectionately called the Mayor of Newtonville.  He enjoyed ham radio and was an avid collector of anything to do with trains and cars. Pallbearers will be close family members and friends. Honorary pallbearers are members of Berry High School Class of 1955.
