Sara Kate Sullivan, age 85, of the Belk community passed away Tuesday morning following an extended illness. Surrounded by family and friends during her final days, Sara Kate, or Maw Maw Kate, as she was so fondly called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, peacefully crossed over to the glory land to be with the Heavenly Father. Having worked in retail and customer service most of her life, she firmly believed in the principles of hard work, honesty, integrity, loyalty and respect. She led by example for all to follow. In her spare time and during her retirement she enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers, cultivating bounty after bounty from her vegetable gardens, spending time with her friends at Belk Kountry Kitchen, Belk Community Center and loved having her hair done at Becky’s Beauty Shop. She also loved gospel music. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. And, her family, each individual member, will tell you they are better people for having the honor and privilege of calling her mother, grandmother and sister.
