Lois Hammond passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at home. Services will be Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Chapel, officiating will be Don Sanders and Chuck Weaver. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Shirley Mizell. Lois Hammond was a radiologist for fifty years. She was a wonderful wife, outstanding mom, an awesome sister and a loving grandmother. Lois was born in Waurik, Oklahoma. She graduated from Big Springs High School in 1955 and from Radiology school in Lubbock, Texas in 1957. She retired at the age of 65. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hack and Pat Spivey; and brothers, George Funderberg and Lonnie Funderberg. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Edmond Hammond of Tuscaloosa; daughters, Kelly Stazel of Montgomery and Shelly (Jason) Cole of Northport; son, Matt (Kristy) Hammond; sister, Diana Bailey of Big Spring, Texas; brother, Jerold (Judy) Spivey of Big Spring, Texas; grandchildren, George (Cathen) Thomas Stazel, Max Hammond, Lily Hammond, Izzy Cole, Jackson Rhodes, Graham Summerlin; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Cole, Jackson Rhodes, Max Hammond, Wes Jones, Rush Crawford, Rodney Connell, Rodney Guy and Jack White. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Gatewood and the Locker Room Employees, Kirby Brown, Sam Talkington, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Thames. In lieu of flowers to donations may be made to St. Jude. Special thanks to Southern Care Hospice nurses and staff.
