Lucille quietly passed in to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Heritage Home Health Care. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Tony Kauchick; her parents, Willie Brown and Buelah Brown; sister, Louise Mullenix; and special nephew, Harold Mullenix. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Betty Jones (Joe) of Northport, Nancy Norris (Mike) of Cumming, Ga.; and her grandchildren, Annette Sherrill (Marc), Michelle Fortenberry (Brian), Luke Norris (Marti) and Matt Norris. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Collin Sherrill, Andrew Fortenberry, Libby Sherrill, Camryn Sherrill, Lane Norris, Oney Norris, Anthony Fortenberry, Copeland Sherrill, Marlee Sherrill and Bailey Sherrill. Farming in Echola, Ala. was a way of life in her younger years and this hard work ethic led her in to the field of nursing. She graduated from Druid City School of Nursing becoming a registered nurse on August 31, 1945. Lucille left Tuscaloosa to go to Montgomery to apply her nursing skills in the service of wounded servicemen. While in Montgomery, she met the love of her life, Tony. They were married on May 13, 1946 and soon returned to Tuscaloosa where she began her career as a nurse with the V.A. Hospital and retired after 34 years in the nursing field. As we joyfully celebrate the life of Lucille, we stand in awe of her wonderful ability to make everyone feel important. She was always there when someone needed her and this was one of her greatest joys in life. Her spirit and memories will be forever cherished. Pallbearers will be Collin Sherrill, Andrew Fortenberry, Luke Norris, Matt Norris, Roy Lofton and Mike Kauchick. Honorary pallbearers are the wonderful caregivers at Heritage, especially Wanda, Kathy, Cookie, Rhonda, Ms. Mary, Renea and Tiffany, all members of the Holy Spirit Ladies Guild, all members of the Knights of Columbus and Auxillary, all past and present members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and all of the friends from the Coker community. The family would like to give a special thank you to Lucille's lifelong friends, Eva Hayes and her daughter, Sharon Stone for their immeasurable support and love.
