Jeanne Burtis, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, formally from Lufkin, Texas, went to heaven on August 5, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dollie Smith; sister, Betty Rexroad (Ray); and brother, Robert Smith. Survivors include her son, Tommy Croft (Regina); brother, Richard Smith; grandson, Jamie (Pam); great- grandchildren, David and Madison; and step children, Megan and Blade; grandson, Darrell (Jennifer); great- grandchildren, Megan and Katie; nephews, Terry Rexroad (Eileen) of Florida and Donnie Rexroad (Rockie) of Texas; and many great- nieces and nephews. She was loved by many family members who called her Aunt Jeanne (AJ). She loved to fish, her pet, Baby Girl, Wednesday lunch dates with her grandsons, bargain shopping and watching birds. She was sharp as a tack, sweet, witty and a wonderful mother-in- law. She will be missed by many. The family would like to thank family, friends and neighbors for their prayers and kindness. The family will have a private memorial service in Tuscaloosa with a service later in her beloved Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to West Alabama Hospice, Cancer Association or ALS Association. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
