Vera Perkins

September 11, 1926 — March 29, 2016

Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Perkins were held Friday, April 01, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel with Carl Porter officiating. Burial followed in Boley Cemetery. Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband, Lenwood Perkins; her parents, William and Lona Davis Waid; sisters, Velma and Flora Waid; brother, Newton Waid; and grandson, Jason Perkins. Survivors include her daughter, Sheila (Terry) Hill; sons, Joe (Gail) Perkins and Tommy (Phyllis) Perkins; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Momma loved to laugh and she loved people, especially children. She was very proud of her own children, grankids, all the way down to the greatgrands. She worked in the Berry High School lunch room for 20 years. She was the Roll maker. Everyone loved mom’s yeast rolls. She loved her job and the ladies she worked with and all of the kids. Mom was a faithful member of the Pearidge Church of Christ. She loved attending and she loved singing. She wasn’t able to attend the last year of her life, but she prayed and sang in bed until God called her home to sing his praises in person. I know I’ve used a lot of the word love in describing mom, but that little four letter word describes her and her life best. We will miss her. A special thanks to Carl and Shirley for all of the Sunday visits and to AL. Hospice for treating her as family.
