Waymon Jenkins

Funeral services for Mr. Waymon Jenkins, age 73 of Fayette, will be Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Norwood Chapel with Rev. Gary Cargile officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday night from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Mr. Jenkins was born January 3, 1943 in the Piney Wood community in Walker County. He passed away March 4, 2016 at Fayette County Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Chelcie Jenkins, mother, Pearlie South Jenkins, brother, Edward Jenkins, sisters, Ola Mae Lay and Jewel Jenkins, and his beloved wife, Imo Gant Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his sons, Tony Jenkins (Diane), Fitzgerald, GA, Darryl Morris (Beth), Danny Morris (Michelle), and Tim Morris (Brandy)all of Fayette; daughter, Lynn Brewer (Jeff), Fitzgerald, GA, grandchildren, Chelsea Morris, Tyler Morris, Holly Morris,Jacey Smith, Jace Smith, Don Pitts, Mason Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Josh Griffin, Tyler Curry, Amber Currington,and Jabe Morris; great-grandchildren, Brandon Olivers, Haylee Jenkins, Brayden Morris, Jaxon Morris, brothers, Walter Jenkins (Louise) and Spencer Jenkins, and sister Rachel Fields. Mr. Jenkins served as the pastor of Elbethel Church for 13 years before he retired for health reasons. Pallbearers will be Dale Fields, David Traweek, Chad Gilreath, Marty Gilreath, Justin Jenkins, and Kevin Traweek. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Fayette County Nursing Home and the doctors and staff of Fayette County Hospital.
