Mrs. Lois Waller Carter, age 82 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winfield First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Church. Interment services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenhill’s Cemetery in Troy, AL with Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating. Mrs. Carter was born on September 5, 1932 to Mr. & Mrs. Clyde and Ruby Gibbs Waller. Mrs. Carter was a devoted wife and loving mother who was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong willed, feisty, independent lady who loved the Lord, and was committed to the church with a servant’s heart. She was a phenomenal cook who always enjoyed time spent with family and friends around the table. Due to Reverend Carter’s blindness, Mrs. Carter served as co-pastor with her husband to several churches across the south including, Bethel Baptist Church in Blakeley, GA, Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy, AL, Sunset Heights Baptist Church in Lanett, AL, Dunn’s Creek Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, Enon Baptist Church in Morris, AL and Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge, AL. She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Robert J.Carter, her parents, Clyde & Ruby Waller, a sister, Jacklyn Wolfingbarger and 3 brothers, Tommy, Harold, and Bobby Waller. She is survived by her children, Gail Carter (Lamar) Harris, Donna Carter (Joel) Mikell and Robby (Lisa) Carter, 7 grandchildren, Sandi Harris (Kevin) Galloway, Shann Harris (Walter) Ford, Cindi Mikell (Nate) McCord, Jeremy Allen (Cheryl) Mikell, Jennifer Mikell (Carlos) George, Jessica Lynn Carter and Jamie Nicole Carter, 11 great grandchildren, Riley, Zoie and Tanner Galloway, Will and Brooks Ford, Colton McCord, Carter and Savannah Mikell, Alexis, Addison and Lillianne George, a sister, Peggy Waller (Jack) Hillyard, 1 brother, Jimmy Waller a dear friend, Joyce Bracewell, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult III Ladies I Sunday School class of Winfield First Baptist Church, the Johnnie Andress Sunday School Class at Bush Memorial Baptist Church in Troy, AL, Hilda Thomas, and Jim and June Key. Active pallbearers will include Jeremy Mikell, Kevin Galloway, Walter Ford, Nate McCord, Carlos George and Russ Long. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Hospice of Northwest Alabama, Winfield, AL or First Baptist Church of Winfield, Vision To Victory Capital Campaign.
