Mrs. Sarah Faye Vaughan age 71 of Tuscaloosa passed away Sunday December 14, 2014 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral Service for Mrs. Vaughan will be Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Fayette First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at the Fayette Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Norwood Chapel Funeral Home in Fayette is directing. Faye was born January 10, 1943 in Fayette, Alabama the daughter of the late James H. Black and Allie Vee Williams Black. She and her late husband Stephen Vaughan owned and operated West Alabama TV Cable Company serving Fayette, Winfield, and Hamilton areas. She continued as the company’s President after her husband’s death. Faye and Steve lived for many years in the Eutaw area where they owned “Deerfield Farm”. They enjoyed entertaining friends and family in the home that Faye designed as well as the hunting and wild life that Steve enjoyed. They returned to Tuscaloosa in 1997 due to Steve’s health issues and she continued to live there after his death in 2003. She was a member of North River Yacht Club and Indian Hills Country Club. Faye loved her friends in Fayette and Tuscaloosa. She loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren but her greatest joy of all was realized while at UAB Hospital when she renewed her love and rededicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. She spent her last days singing and praising the Lord. Faye is survived by three children, Donna (Tommy) Norwood of Fayette, Tinna (Duncan) McKenzie of Starkville, Ms. , and Don (Bobbi) Simmons of Tuscaloosa. Grandchildren, Kyle South, Crystal South (Josh) Mims, Matthew (Nikki) McKenzie, Johnathan McKenzie, Step-grandchildren, Joe (Lori) Norwood, Will (Tori) Norwood, Ann Marie and Wesley Anders ; great grandchildren, Braylen Mims, Ava Grace South, Sarah Mims, Kylie South and Mason Mims. Brothers: Jay Dee Black, Jimmy (Linda) Black, Michael Black, Joe (Becky) Black; Sisters-in-law, Lyda Black and Ann Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Wayne Vaughan in 2003, her parents, James H. Black and Allie Vee Black, a brother, Larry Black. Active pallbearers will be Gary Beckler, Hal Hunt, John Pierson, Jim McIntyre, Sam Lawler, Dennis Riffer, Harlan Prater III, Horace Berry, Mark Lavoy, Melvin Speight. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lovelady, Dr. Oliver, Dr. Webber, Dr. Miller, Dr. H. E. Brietling, Dr. R.O.Rutland, Nick and Terry Saban, UAB Medical Team 8th floor West Pavilion. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of West Alabama or the Fayette First Free Will Baptist Church.
