Barabara Earnest

Mrs. Barbara Earnest, age 65 of Berry, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berry United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Collett, Rev. Raymond Fowler and Rev. Kenneth Bozeman officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Bethabara Cemetery. The visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mrs. Earnest was born Nov. 29, 1948 in Corona, AL, the daughter of the late Roy W. and Annie Wilma Gray Strickland. She was an RN and formerly worked at the VA Medical Center. She later operated a private duty Home Nursing Care Service. Mrs. Earnest was a member of the Berry United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Dwight “Slab” Earnest of Berry; four daughters, Susan Earnest, Kandi (Michael) Thacker, Beth Smith of Berry and Diana (Timmy) Bordelon of Gordo; one sister, Shirley Key of Macon, GA; one brother, Tommy Strickland of Berry; nine grandchildren, Beau Earnest, Jakob, Chad and Ryne Brashier; D.J., Ben, and Erin Smith; Caleb and Lindsay Hayes; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, and Lexi Earnest; Kalli Grace Brashier; Tucker and Isabella Hayes. “Mawmaw” Barbara was beloved by all who knew her. She touched so many lives in a positive way. Through her, generations have learned to love and be loved. We will miss her greatly, but we know she is with all her loved ones in Heaven. Until we meet again, beautiful lady. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Beau Earnest, Jakob Brashier, D.J. Smith, Chad Brashier, Ben Smith and Ryne Brashier. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Hayes (grandson), Larry Smith, Ricky Brashier, AlaCare Hospice Staff and Nurses, Deidre Jones and Melody Arrowood, Members of the Berry United Methodist Church.
