Fred Sands

Mr. Fred Sands age 79 of Berry passed away Sunday December 1, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Davis Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Lynell Early and Bro. Major Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Berry City Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Norwood Chapel. Mr. Sands was born May 26, 1934 in Fayette County, the son of the late Jessie Ervin Sands and Donia Moore Sands. He was a resident of Berry for thirty-eight years and a former resident of Forestdale for fifteen years. Mr. Sands was retired from the Chevron North River Mines. He was a member of the Berry Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Sands and Luther Sands. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Pendley Sands; one daughter, Leah (Johnathan) Walters; one son, James (Kathy) Sands; three sisters, Melba (Jerry) Kuykendall, Ruthie (Melvin) Feltman and Nell (Marshall) Lowery; one brother, Ted (Beverly) Sands and one granddaughter, Ameris Walters. Pallbearers are Jackie Pendley, Andrew Whitson, Frank Collins, David Sands, Brian Williams and Danny Morris.
